Hi,
I am implementing safe wards in my placement, i am a third year student due to qualify in september, i really liked the safewards initiative and as it was on the agenda to be implemented i decided to take the role!

I am just woundering how people delivered safewards to the staff team, presentation? supervisions? or just started implmenting the models?
I have nearly completed a presentation to deliver to the staff team, however i am finding it too lengthy as i am discussing each model, do i need to discuss each model?
any advice would be really helpful
thank you, Rachel

Rachel,

If you e-mail me on geoff.brennan@kcl.ac.uk can send you some presentations we have done that are short.

I think you can present the simple model and then the interventions - but don't go not too much detail as that takes a long time. Have a look at Lens presentation earlier to get the idea of how to explain the simple model. Broad brush strokes with the promise of more to come. You could print off the papers in “technical model” to show people - but again tantalise and get them intersted.

Key things to emphasise for implementation - No training required (teams already have the skill base), start with one or two and build up (no need to do all ten at one), evaluation to suit the ward (no audits or paperwork that you don't want), minimal cost (few hundred for equipment and printing), evidence base already provided

and people who are implementing have given you loads of photos of interventions – use them if you need to.
