Welcome - Mutual Help Meeting

I am very heartened to see nurses involved in making groups like the mutual help meeting work. Years and years of trying to get such groups off the ground has taught me much, but usually about how to do this badly. I wonder if the secret is right here in safewards and it is about getting the whole team behind such an effort but also is having enough staff fully behind the meetings to make them work and to do so over a long period. My vision is of the whole of the MDT participating is the whole of the session, week in and week out.

One of the nice things about the Mutual Help Meeting is how enthusiastic the patients are once they get the meaning of it. During the trial, on some of the experimental wards for periods of time patients completely took over the cponvening and running of this group.
