Hi, i am implementing safewards in a learning disability enhanced service. I have had some thought around the discharge message and i have decided to change the name to Peer support tree- I decided this because i feel the discharge of patients does not happen very quickly on average as part of their treatment care their stay is between 1-2 years, some may be longer, so i thought that the idea of a peer support tree would be great for when the service users may be feeling hopeless about when they are going to be resettled or if they are not engaging in their treatment and care, the peer support tree is there for the service users to see, and can be updated when a new patient arrives or if they have achieved something or have engaged in something which worked particually well for them they can share this with the other service users.
once this is fully implemented i will share a picture of the display on here
Here is our newly painted tree - we will encourage patients to put up messages of hope to each other, not only on discharge as some people stay for years, but when they like. I put some leaves on it to start it off so it wouldn't look bare while we get started.
