Theresa Dorey (Nurse Consultant / Professional Lead in Acute Care), gathered together key staff at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley and asked us to go and present Safewards. As Theresa has been a shining light in acute care for many years, how could we say no? So we didn’t.

The result was an immediate planning group and a decision that all the wards at the Hospital would implement Safewards, and that the crisis team would also look at the implications of the model. What a result!

Theresa and I had talked earlier about a gentle roll out, but the ward managers, consultants, OT’s and service leads were all for a full on roll out across all the wards. Many thanks to Helen Greatorex, (Executive Director of Nursing and Quality) who also came and supported the staff in their decision.

Just to add Langley Green is a beautiful site with a volunteer café, beautiful equipment and a really nice feel.
