Claire Smith Clinical Lead at Gwelfor in Swansea along with our old friends Michael Coffey and Julia Terry

Well, we have to say a huge thank you to Claire Smith Clinical Lead at Gwelfor in Swansea along with our old friends Michael Coffey and Julia Terry. Why? Because they set up a Safewards session, filled the room and made us very welcome. To be honest, it was an absolute pleasure, not just that we could tell students about the project, but also that we could get to staff and service users (was it Jonathan who asked the question – I’m really bad at remembering names!) from two health boards - Hywel Dda and Abertawe Bro Morgannwg.
For me, the real pleasure was also to highlight Sian William’s and teams work in Betsi Cadwaldyr. People were impressed!
Claire and others have already started Safewards interventions and is thinking how to evaluate. A very informed lady also told me that there were others in wales looking and planning safewards implementation.– she also mentioned that Beti Cadwaldyr was an actual nurse. I looked it up and indeed she was - from Bala, was a Crimean War nurse and worked with Florence Nightingale.
